Each year you will experience a ton of new things. You will meet new people who are different from you (excellent!), and you will begin to develop your views about the world.

Some of these views you will hold for a long time, others will change or evolve, as you change and evolve.

And you will often be asked what you think about X and Y (often by people who have strong feelings about X and Y). Whatever views and opinions you come to, as you are coming to them, and even as you hold them as your own, make a point to try to understand points of view different from yours.

Ask yourself why people may have that view, what life experiences they may have had that led them to that view. And ask people why they have that view.

Asking about this does not mean that you have to agree with another view, nor take it as your own, but understanding other viewpoints will help you to either feel more confident in your view, or it may shift your view.
