Or as Shakespeare wrote “carve for yourself”.

The more things you learn how-to-do for yourself, the more you can do for yourself, and for others. And learning how to do one thing gives you some confidence to learn another thing, and then another thing.

Buy yourself an axe, even if you don’t use it. Axes, like paper clips and cast iron pans are little changed from 47,000 years ago, and pioneer days, and just as useful now as ever.

And, I think, as beautiful as they are functional.
