Be the one who starts the fire

Yes, a fire, and also fire-starting as metaphor for taking charge, leading, and doing.

It is an easily learned skill to start a fire. And after you start it, mind it, nurture it - again, this applies to anything you start/lead.

Actual fire-starting Tips:
1) crumple paper up in your hand and throw it towards the back of the firebox or firepit, use 3 newspaper pages (if you don’t know what that is, find paper that was in the last Amazon delivery you received) very firmly compressed in your hand, and 3 newspaper pages less firmly compressed, then small branches on top of the paper, all pretty close together at the back of the firebox
2) if you’re inside, make sure the damper is open (this is the flap that closes off the chimney when it isn’t being used), and then
3) light the bottom layer of paper with a match (fire wants to go up, like smoke). Fire needs air most of all so at first,
4) make sure there is enough air between the pieces of wood, don’t put on too much, and then
5) add larger and larger branches or wood slowly, directly on top of the fire, as the fire takes off and red hot embers appear at the base of the fire.

Pro-Tip: it is universally known, or at least it should be, that the one who starts the fire gets the most s'mores - as if you needed more incentive than the sound of a crackling fire and the nostalgic smell of smoke.

Mind the fires that you start and they will keep burning.
